Betsy Straka, MS CCC-SLP

Having been born and raised in Colorado, Betsy naturally went to the University of Colorado in Boulder where she received  bachelor’s degrees in Communication Disorders and Speech Science and in Psychology.  She then went to Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma where she earned a Master’s of Science degree in Communication Disorders. Betsy established Straka Speech in 1984 and has watched it grow and grow. When not working or tending to the office she enjoys reading, traveling, skiing and spending time with family.

Pamela K. Varner, MA CCC-SLP

Pam grew up in Las Cruces, New Mexico  and graduated from New Mexico State University receiving her B.A. in Communicative Disorders in 1981 and her  M.A. in  Speech Pathology in 1983. She has been a practicing clinician for 35 years in the states of Texas, California and Colorado. Her areas of interest are remediation of articulation disorders, oral motor and planning issues that interfere with sound development and affect feeding and expressive/receptive language disorders and delays. Pam’s free time is spent cheering on the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies, spending time with her husband, 3 adult children and their families, and getting together with friends.

Rebecca B. Smith, MA CCC-SLP

Becky had the pleasure of receiving her Bachelor's degree in Speech & Language Disabilities from Elmira College and her master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Western Michigan University. Becky is passionate about working with children and adults in areas including, but not limited to: pragmatics, stuttering, receptive language, expressive language, and articulation. She enjoys hiking, going to the movies, playing cards/board games, bringing her dog to the dog park, and spending quality time with friends and family.

Lori C. Genrich, MA CCC-SLP

Lori attended Colorado State University where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders and then went on to University of Colorado-Boulder where she earned her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.  Lori’s areas of interest include articulation/phonological development, receptive and expressive language development, stuttering and social communication. She loves working with all ages, but has a particular heart for early intervention. Some of the things she enjoys when Lori is not at work include spending  time with her husband and three growing children, visiting family and friends, hiking, skiing, walking her pup, and cheering her kids on at their volleyball and baseball games.

Holly Estabrook, MS CCC-SLP

Holly attended Worcester State College in Massachusetts where I received a bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences/Disorders in 2004 and a masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 2006. Holly has been at Straka Speech since 2008. In her free time, she enjoys staying busy with her two boys, hiking, skiing, cooking, and watching reality tv.

Andrea Glen, MS CCC-SLP

Andrea grew up as an “Army Brat,” living in Germany, Kansas, Virginia, Oklahoma, New York, and finally, landing in Colorado. She attended SUNY Geneseo, obtaining her Bachelor’s of Art degree in Psychology and Human Development. She received her post baccalaureate degree and Master’s of Science in Communicative Disorders through SUNY New Paltz. Andrea’s areas of interest in the speech realm include assistive technology, pragmatic language, and overall language acquisition. Outside of the speech room, she enjoys crafting, baking, singing songs from Broadway musicals, discovering new hole-in-the-wall restaurants, and having fun with friends and family.

Amber Rea Detwiler, MA CCC-SLP

Amber been with Straka Speech Castle Rock since 2015 and is thrilled to be joining the Colorado Springs office leading Social Speech Groups. She earned her B.S. and M.A. degrees from the University of Northern Colorado. Amber has experience working with children with Autism, Down Syndrome, hearing impairments, stuttering difficulties, receptive/expressive language disorders, articulation impairments and social communication delays. She also enjoys providing early intervention for infants and toddlers with receptive/expressive language delays. Amber has developed a passion for working with children and adults who stutter, and has co-presented at several conferences on topics related to assessment and treatment of preschool and school-age stuttering. In her free time, Amber loves curling up with a good book and a cup of coffee, exploring colorful Colorado with her husband, Dalton, friends and family, and traveling.

Margaret Anderson Fry, OTR/L

Margaret Anderson Fry received her Bachelor of Arts from Harding University and her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, Louisiana. Margaret began her career in pediatrics right out of school, specializing in early intervention services. She has received specialized trainings including: Therapeutic Listening, Advanced Therapeutic Listening, Beckman Oral Motor Therapy, Is it Sensory or is it Behavior, Pediatric Vestibular Rehabilitation, Astronaut Training, and Handwriting Without Tears. She has worked alongside many disciplines including speech therapists, developmental therapists, psychologists, and physical therapists who helped her gain a wide variety of knowledge. Margaret is a true southern girl. You will hear her often say “ya’ll” and “bless your heart” and “Go Arkansas Razorbacks!”. She moved to Colorado in 2017 with her two children, Victoria (who attends college in Arkansas) and her son Zachary, who is a junior in high school. Her hobbies include exercising, lifting weights, and cooking. Margaret truly loves working with kids and is very excited to be a part of the Straka Speech Therapy team.
